This website is designed to provide timely and authentic information about the various circulars/notifications and regulations governing the higher education system of Punjab. The PCCTU aims to ensure that the legitimate demands of college teachers are met and their service rights remain protected. PCCTU has always been against the commercialization of higher education and exploitation (of any sort) of teachers by the managements. The struggle of PCCTU has been unique of its kind and has bore the fruits, but journey is not yet complete as new challenges have surfaced in this changing era of education. About Us

Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers' Union (PCCTU) is the vanguard teachers' movement in punjab. PCCTU came into existence in 1948 after the independence as Punjab College Teachers' Union by the renowned eductionosts and farsighted leaders Like Prof. Bhisham Sahni, Prof OP Mohan, Prof Kapoor and Prof Pardeep Kumar. It was the untiring efforts of Bhisham Sahni, one of the most well known and celebrated writers of post-independent India, in organising the Punjab College Teachers' Union, latterly known as PCCTU. He became very active in the organisation of the college and university teachers’ union — work that spread across Punjab. The union elected him the first general secretary of the All Punjab College Teachers’ Union.

After the partition of Punjab in 1966 it has reoriented itself to its current form as Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers' Union (PCCTU).

Distinct with the crown of being one of the oldest teachers' union of Punjab , PCCTU has always been and will always be committed to its core objectives. The main objectives of PCCTU includes safeguarding the service rights of college teachers, upliftment of the standards of higher education, to build solidarity and feeling of brotherhood among the teachers.
